Guess that Character Blogfest

Jen at Unedited is hosting the Guess that Character Blogfest today. Your job is to guess what you think my MC Scott looks like.

The rules are:

August 19th
Post a snippet of the character you'd like to be identified. Try and make sure there are no descriptions of what they might look like. This blog fest is based purely on voice, action and personality.

August 20th
The Big Reveal!!!! You will post a picture of your character (or representing how you see your character) with a short description of his/her personality and who you thought was the closest person to being correct (if anyone was close!).

My Snippet:

Scott’s mouth hung open. His rapid fire dart gun still hung loose in his hand, forgotten. He didn’t move. He didn’t speak.

“Scott, did you hear me?” Dad asked, snapping his fingers to get his attention. “Well, they’ll fix your ears, too, before they send you home.”

Slowly, Scott looked around at the many piles of toys and dirty clothes, appreciating the way they made his room look more comfortable. Maybe his parents had reminded him to clean it once or twice or twenty times (he couldn’t really remember), but why make his bed if he’s just going to sleep in it again? And maybe he did pour his cup full of garden dirt and wriggly-worms on Molly’s head, but that was the best part of the whole party. He never thought his parents would actually send him to the factory. His big brother, Wyatt, never got sent to the factory. But then, Mom thought he was Mr. Perfect.

Tomorrow I will reveal who had the closest guess and show you how I envision Scott.

Messy hair, huge eyes, mournful expression, not tall, not skinny but far from fat. Something like my 6 1/2 year old.

Let's see...he's got red hair, blue eyes, freckles, and fair skin. He's average height and rather slim. Can't wait to see how I did!

Christine Danek said...

Darn it Susan --red hair was in my sights too, but with green eyes. Messy hair for sure. I think his clothes would be a mess too.
Can't wait to see what he looks like.

Scott is wiry with knobby knees that always seem to have patches of ground-in dirt and scrapes from climbing trees. He dresses in shorts and hastily pulled-on t-shirts. He usually has bed hair that sticks out in odd directions unless his mother caught him and combed it down. His nose peels from being outdoors every chance he can get.

Hi,

Love it, I'm seeing an imp!:

Guessing now: he's got that kinda cute innocent look about him, but a devil at heart.

He's you're average six year old, fair haired, angelic features, big bluey's, grimy hands, trousers hanging off his hips, udone shirt over T-shirt, hunting for nasties to place in peoples' beds.

best

Hmm. I agree with Susan and Christine on the red hair, except I see hazel eyes. His hair is unkempt...just like his appearance. Too busy running around outside to care. :)

I'll go with invisible.

Cute snippet! I think Scott's looks and personality would be conflicting. He probably looks all sweet and innocent, but inside lies a troublemaker. I'm gonna guess blonde hair, messy, of course, and big ole blue eyes.

Great snippet Shannon! I loved it! Thanks for joining in on all the fun! I really appreicated the awesome turn-out!

My Guess: Scott is a little trouble maker when he wants to be and I picture him with dark brown hair, often less messy unless his mother tidy's it up. Blue jeans with a plaid button up shirt and bright blue eyes that pop.

I can't wait to see how far off I am!!!

your character reminds me of my son so I'm going to say he has messy curly hair with hazel eyes and big front teeth that he needs to grow into, with a smidgen of freckles across his cheeks and nose.

Light brown hair, freckles, a little dirty because he's a young boy. Am I close?

j.leigh.bailey said...

Hmmm.... Dark, tousled hair that never stays down...maybe a cowlick. Big brown eyes, skin tanned from playing outside, and freckles along his nose. He's thin because he's growing fast.

The picture in my head is Jonah Bobo, the little boy from the movie ZATHURA. Thats him...final answer! :)

Christina Lee said...

The factory?!? Awesome! I say dark brown messy hair, big brown eyes and freckles on a skinny build.

Margo Berendsen said...

Wow, this is a powerful little snippet! I am SOO intrigued about the factory (where they will fix his ears too!)

Perhaps because of the ears comment, I see a cute red-headed boy with ears that stick out a little, and a cowlick that makes his hair stick up a little in the back, too.

blonde hair blue eyes probably about 7 I wouldn't guess much older, could be younger though hard to tell good post!

I don't know if what I'm picturing comes from reading what I've read of yours or from an image in my own thoughts...it'll be interesting to see which it is tomorrow :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Ooo - he's gotta have freckles! Blonde/reddish (light not dark) hair that's just shy of curly and never stays where it should. Sturdy body - will turn into an athlete when he's older :)

Very neat idea. I'll stay out of this one since I've read the book, lucky girl that I am. :)

Ruddy complexion, straight, rusty red hair. Wears whatever he pulls out his pile of clothes on the floor. His appearance means nothing to him.

Loves to play jokes on people and have fun but he gets into trouble with his high spirits.

I was guessing him to be about nine or ten but the factory threw me. So, not sure.

Great snippet! Intrigued:)

OMG this sounds like my bratty little brother (well, when he was little). He had golden locks, bright blue eyes and there was always a bit of dirt on his face and hands.

Dianne K. Salerni said...

Scott is "all boy." He's a tousled blond with michievous brown eyes. His knees are scabbed, and there is always dirt under his nails. He sometimes has a frog in his pocket. Right now, he looks a bit gobsmacked, with his mouth hanging open in disbelief.

Vicki Rocho said...

Let's see, Scott is small for his size, wiry and mischievous. I see medium blonde hair, shaggy. Freckles across his nose. Run-of-the-mill blue eyes. Knees of his jeans are ripped out. He's smart, but a borderline misfit. Likely to be misdiagnosed as ADD-HD because he prefers being active.

Nicole Murray said...

Messy hair, cloths but a great smile. A devil smile. Kinda small for his age. May be a little more mature for his age?

Kristin Rae said...

freckle faced trouble maker!! ginger hair, clothes are always grass-stained. chubby cheeks.

Brenda Drake said...

Okay, is he a robot or what? I guess he's some sort of creation that has to be sent to the factory for fixing. I'd say he's a Dennis the Menace type -- blond, blue-eyed, mischievous kid with freckles and dirt smudged on his cheeks.

Great piece. Can't wait to see tomorrow! :D

Elizabeth Mueller said...

Shannon!!! LOL, well, I can guess that he has red hair, freckles and blue eyes? :D He is a cutie alright, isn't it?

What do you think of mine?

Diane J. said...

I'm picturing a boy of 9 or 10. Jeans and striped t-shirts. Doesn't always wear shoes and can be found exploring any nook and cranny along any path, whether it's a good climbing tree in the woods or a cave off the beach. His hair is sandy blond and mussy. And he has a super sweet smile.

Karen Amanda Hooper said...

Haphazard hair and clothes that are wrinkled with a stain here and there. But a sweet face and genuine eyes. A kid you'd just want to hug the crap out of except you're worried he might not smell so good.
