Hello Book

Hello Book!
by N.M. Bodecker

Hello book!
What are you up to?
Keeping yourself to yourself,
shut in between your covers,
a prisoner high on a shelf.
come in book!
What is your story?
Haven't you ever been read?
Did you think
I would just pass by you
And pick me a comic instead?
No way book!
I'm your reader
I open you up.
Set you free.
Listen, I know a secret!
Will you share your secrets with me?
What book are you currently reading?

I'm reading McCarthy's All the Pretty Horses. It's excellent, but I'm a bit confused cuz I'm on page 50 and no one's yet called a horse "pretty" yet. Huh.

I just started reading Yes! You Can Learn How To Write Children's Books, Get Them Published, and Build a Successful Writing Career by Nancy I. Sanders.

I'm reading it for a workshop I signed up for at the Muse Online Writers Conference, which starts next week Monday. Can't wait!

I have a habit of reading several books simultaneously and presently, I'm reading Sherman Alexie's "War Dances," Joe Finder's "Company Man," and Don Winslow's "Savages." Really into Alexie's and Finder's books--I think this is Alexie's finest to date--and Winslow's is okay.

Cute poem! I'm re-reading "Wizard's First Rule" by Terry Goodkind. I read it in 9th grade, but I remember hardly anything about it. So it's kind of like reading it for the first time again!

I received "Firelight" by Sophie Jordan in the mail today from a blog contest I won (Jen Daiker's), so that's next on my list. I'm super excited to read that one!!! I also recently bought "The Mysterious Benedict Society" by Trenton Lee Stewart and "Ford County" by John Grisham. I can't wait to read all these great books!

Yay for books and literacy!!!

Cool poem.

I went on a bit of a reading binge -- I usually do when I travel. Hours of uninterrupted reading time! I read First Contact and Brains - a Zombie Memoir (both repped by Janet) and now I am reading Fool by Christopher Moore who is hysterically funny. I try to avoid reading his books in public because he always makes me laugh - loud, rolling, belly laughs that make outsiders turn and stare. Fool is a bit raunchy so if you're easily offended, be cautioned.

I'm reading THE FALL by Chuck Hogan and Guillermo Del Toro. :)

Excellent poem. Did you write it? I would love to think that someday, someone will pick up my book and think of this poem.

I am just finishing up some picture books. I am going to read Glam's book and then Jody's book. YIKES. TBR pile doesn't have a book written by me yet.
