Marvelous Middle Grade Monday - Bone

Marvelous Middle Grade Monday

Bone (graphic novel series)
by Jeff Smith

 Goodreads Blurb:
After being run out of Boneville, the three Bone cousins, Fone Bone, Phoney Bone, and Smiley Bone, are separated and lost in a vast uncharted desert.
One by one, they find their way into a deep, forested valley filled with wonderful and terrifying creatures...
Humor, mystery, and adventure are spun together in this action-packed, side-splitting saga. Everyone who has ever left home for the first time only to find that the world outside is strange and overwhelming will love Bone.
These books are a huge hit with almost all readers ages 7 and up. My daughter LOVES them. My high school students dove for them when I brought a few to class (I had to make a sign-up sheet). They're surprisingly popular, and I love it that they are such kid friendly graphic novels. I believe much of the appeal is in the odd but fun illustrations and humor. The reviews on Goodreads are very positive, too.

 Happy Monday!

These books are HUGE in my classroom. I have at least 15 copies of the various books and they're very rarely on the shelf! :)

I'm not sure my 11 year old really liked them, but I remember them being a hit for one reluctant reader I know. I'll have to get some for my 9 yo for Christmas. :D

Huh, I love these kinds of suprising books that earn their place all on their own with kids and adults. Thanks for sharing!

OMGosh, Shannon! Finally an MG series I can relate too! Seeing how three of my children are pretty much out of the MG scene--and have been for a few years--I often find new MGs I haven't heard of. BUT not this series. My oldest son (now 18) had every book and he loved them!

We sell a TON of these at the bookstore. And I've never read one. Nice to hear they appeal to such a broad age range.

Happy Halloween!

These graphic novels look like so much fun! I've actually never really read one. I've been meaning to get back into middle grade reading, so I'll definitely have to add these to my to-read list.

Bone hasn't touched down in my hideout, I mean, home yet. I'll have to ask my oldest if he's ever heard of them.

Thanks for the review, Shannon.

Cute - bones come to life. I had not heard of this series. I'll have to look for it for my little guy who should be just the right age. Thanks Shannon!
