Serious Face

"You can approach the act of writing with nervousness, excitement, hopefulness, or even despair - the sense that you can never completely put on the page what's in your mind and heart. You can come to the act with your fists clenched and your eyes narrowed, ready to kisk ass and take down names. You can come to it because you want a girl to marry you or you want to change the world. Come to it any way but lightly. Let me say it again: you must not come lightly to the blank page."
~Stephen King (from On Writing)

I taped this to the top of my computer yesterday. Must. Keep. Writing. It's a serious business, and my editing will not get done if I don't do it.

I miss you guys! Tons and bunches, and bunches and tons. I hope you'll hang in here with me for a while longer. Don't forget to enter my THUMPED giveaway. I'll announce the winner on Friday.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!

Such good advice, as usual. Keep writing. It's a muscle!

Great quote. I think we all come to our revisions with those different faces at different times in our writing process.

And of course we're with you while you take time to revise. How could we not be? You're such an awesome friend. And you'll get those revisions done.

This reminds me of "do not go gentle into that good night." Terrific advice - all we can do is come to the empty page with all we've got!

Today is my writing day, big word goals, and I keep thinking of other things I need to do and suddenly I feel like the dogs need a bath. Right. Now.

Discipline is hard!

Good luck with your editing!

I just finished a major edit on Sunday so I'm taking a few days break. It's heaven!

And I love the new look? Have I just not been here in a while? Shame on me. It's adorable!

You just reminded me that I told myself I'd reread his book whenever I got lazy with my writing. I've been such a slacker. I'm gonna start reading that book again TONIGHT.

*makes serious face*

Loved that book - so many nuggets of wisdom told in a narrative. Such a show of talent!
