"I Believe" Part 1

My sisters, Kristi (left) and Cindi (center), and me (the old one on the right)

My sister sent me this in an e-mail yesterday. It is too beautiful not to share, but it is too long to share in one post. I will post half of it today and the rest on Saturday. Enjoy!

I Believe...
That just because two people argue,
It doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue,
It doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe...
That we don't have to change friends if
We understand that friends change.

I Believe...
That no matter how good a friend is
they're going to hurt you every once in a while,
and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe...
That true friendship continues to grow,
even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I Believe...
That you can do something in an instant
That will give you heartache for life.

I Believe...
That it's taking me a long time
To become the person I want to be.

I Believe...
That you should always leave loved ones
with
loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe...
That you can keep going, long after you think you can't.

I Believe...
That we are responsible for what we do,
no matter how we feel.

I Believe...
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe...

That heroes are the people who do what has to be done
when it needs
to be done,
regardless of the consequences.

I Believe...
That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing
and have the best time.

I Believe...
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down
will be the ones to help you get back up.

I invite you to add some of your own wisdom to this list.

  4. You and your sisters are GORGEOUS!

I believe my life story feels like a tragedy sometimes; but there is always hope around the corner.

I believe a story without conflict could never reach a happy ending.

  9. What a gorgeous picture!

And I love this poem(?). It's great. I believe that there's nothing so hard that I can't live through it. Some of those same sentiments are echoed here.

  10. I believe that all the stresses in the world (be it heartache, sickness, anger, etc.) are the victims of time constraint, and it will be better sooner or later.

  13. Shannon, this is really nice, and particularly well-timed for me. Thanks for sharing. And now, I have to ask, I'm not sure which one of the sisters is you, but I'm dying to know. All of you are beautiful but I'd like a clearer glimpse of my relatively newfound blogging pal. :) I need to know for when we meet in person someday.

  16. Shannon, back again. I feel like we're i.m.ing, practically! You are so funny. You are ALL beautiful, and still spring chicks as well. Thanks so much. To be honest, when I first saw it I thought it was stock photo, it was so gorgoues, picture-perfect. But...it just speaks so much about the gift of sisterhood in a way that only a sister would know. Thanks again, and for clarification. :) Have a super weekend!

  24. EVERYONE - holy cow! I am so far behind on the comments today. Sorry. I'm glad you are all enjoying "I Believe". Beautiful stuff, isn't it? As for the picture, I just felt like something so emotional required a more personal photo of things loved. Tomorrow's photo for Part 2 is of my darling children.

  34. Exceedingly beautiful picture!

    I believe:

a good book is as good as therapy.
singing loudly to the radio in traffic is healthy.
writing what no one but oneself may ever read is a triumph of will.
