I Wish I Was a Glow Worm

"I wish I was a glow worm,
A glow worm's never glum.
'Cuz how can you be grumpy
When the sun shines out your bum!"

This is my attempt at spreading cheer and positive attitudes today.

Whatever is getting you down right now - drafts, edits, query wars, jobs, family, diets, an empty chocolate drawer (I really, really hope it's not an empty chocolate drawer) - go forth and shine! Not necessarily from your bum.

What is something you can SHINE about today?

  1. Shining from your bum...I can't believe you wrote that, haha. My sister had one of those glow worm toys and I thought it was way cute. :) I can shine about napping after getting the kids off to school. Thanks to the wind and a headache, I woke up at 4. Being an at-home mom really does have its benefits (you know, when you're not cleaning or running everyone around or volunteering in the schools).

  2. Hee! Thanks for the smile!
Even though it's windy and stormy and dark this morning, I feel satisfied because my house is looking good after all of the effort in the last few weeks. Plus I'm excited as I can finally get back to my writing this week!

You know what makes me shine? My toddler. Kind of hard to fight a smile when looking at him.

  6. TeeHee. I'll have that last line running through my head all day today. There's snow on the ground, and that makes me shine too today. I like the change of seasons.

What is something I can shine about? My six year old wrote her first poem. And the meter is spot on!

  16. Aww.... thank u! You will be the sunshine in our universe.

Earlier today I was thinking how, even tho my house is modest in size, it's so much more than others in different parts of the world have. I was feeling thankful for having so much. SOme have so little.

We in America are truly blessed.

  18. How did you know I needed this today? With the diet and the stress at work, I'm ready to implode. But I can shine and be happy! Just by smiling. I can, I can, I can.

  28. Great poem, and I posted my cheer on my blog. I'm actually happy about the snow. It's pretty and fun, and I know it won't stick around long. The weekend promises to be warmer for the football games and trick-or-treating.
