"People create their own success by learning what they need to learn and then by practicing it until they become proficient at it."
~ Brian tracy
I used this poster in a blog post over a year ago, but I think it's worth sharing again now - especially since I have so many new followers. I love, love, love it.
Is there anything you would add to this list?
Ah, I remember this poster! I stole it last year and thew it on my blog :) I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteOh wow!! What a great poster!! I was wondering what the 1/2 rule was going to be - LOL!!! Excellent!!
ReplyDeleteNo, poetry doesn't have to rhyme (x2!!!).
Thank you so much for this!! take care

My favorite is 12 1/2. :)
ReplyDeleteIts my new favorite poster now.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love it! I need one of these in my office or maybe as my background on my desktop so I can see it ALL the time.
ReplyDeleteIt's still as relevant now as it was back then!!! Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteThat was great, especially the try something new.
ReplyDeleteGreat poster! But I disagree with point two. If you've read something a hundred million times of course it's going to bore you! But it will be new and excting to a reader if it was exciting when you first wrote it.
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful! The adage about boring writing/reading is so true...as is the exciting writing/reading. I'm learning that a true gauge of the story is when I am continually excited by it and can't wait to revisit my characters. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! There is no luck save for that we make. Thank you for that reminder.
ReplyDeleteAll excellent advice. Glad you reposted it.
ReplyDeleteI love that last one. :D
ReplyDeleteBut the poster is great--all those rules are true!
I'd love to have that poster!
ReplyDeleteGive yourself permission to be other things besides a writer. You know, mom, wife, teacher, etc. Wear all your hats and be grateful for the time spent in each one.
ReplyDeleteI love it...I think one of the hardest things about writing was convincing myself that I need to give myself time to get better. Practice, practice, practice...and READ.
ReplyDeleteEdge of Your Seat Romance
Great poster! Love 'em all, except agree with Jessica Bell about #2!
ReplyDeleteSuper poster, Shannon! Full of fab advice ;) And look how much you've grown since a year ago!!
ReplyDeleteOh! I'm glad you did post again as I missed the first time! I like! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I wasn't around when you posted this but I'm so glad you reposted it because it's amazing!!!!
ReplyDelete#6 is a huge pet peeve of mine, several people say "I'm too busy to read" and Stephen King says "If you're too busy to read than you are too busy to write"
Thanks for sharing!

I adore that quote! Seriously, where do you find these nuggets of wisdom? :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's essential to do that kind of meta-thinking about your learning - of the craft, of the business, of your own place in it. The world is constantly evolving around us, so we have to keep learning to keep up and succeed. :)
Great poster! I think it would apply to any job!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shannon!
