Failure Does Not Mean You're a Failure
Failure does not mean I’m a failure;
It does mean I have not yet succeeded.
Failure does not mean I have accomplished nothing;
It does mean I have learned something.
Failure does not mean I have been a fool;
It does mean I had enough faith to experiment.
Failure does not mean I have disgraced;
It does mean I have dared to try.
Failure does not mean I don’t have it;
It does mean I have something to do in a different way.
Failure does not mean I am inferior;
It does mean I am not perfect.
Failure does not mean I have wasted my life;
It does mean that I have an excuse to start over.
Failure does not mean that I should give up;
It does mean that I should try harder.
Failure does not mean that I will never make it;
It does mean that I need more practice.

Failure today does not mean we can't succeed tomorrow!
Can you add anything to these?
Okay, I'm framing this and sitting it next to my computer screen. We all need this as a reminder.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Failure doesn't mean I"m not moving forward with small successes.
ReplyDeleteGosh - I can't think of any more flip sides to failure! Loved these ones here!! So so true!! Just be as positive and focused as possible!! "Tomorrow is another day". Yay! Take care

*sigh* I kinda needed this today! ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this. I need to hear this almost everyday. I think it's so much more important to focus on the journey and learning and enjoying the experience rather than a possibly elusive goal like getting published. At least for me right now.
ReplyDeleteThis is so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteFailure does not mean I have been a fool;
It does mean I had enough faith to experiment. -- especially this.
The Navy Seals have a saying, If you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough.
I take "cheating" to mean "breaking the rules" and the only ones who have faith to experiment are the ones who have faith to do this too.
I always love your quotes!
Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteIf at first you don't succeed...
Best,
Col
So true! When life closes a door it opens a window (or something like that, maybe a vent in the ceiling, I can't remember). ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, is this ever wonderful and true. I, for one, need to be reminded of this periodically. I also loved what Old Kitty wrote: "Tomorrow is another day."
ReplyDeleteI hate the word failure because it feels so terminal. But I love this poem.
ReplyDeleteLast night I went to my daughter's sixth grade back to school night and her science teacher said, "I hope all the kids make mistakes. Mistakes are one of the best ways of learning." I like that attitude.
This is marvelous---and it seems to have covered it all. It means "I have dared to try." I love that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great poem. I need to print it out and put it by my computer.
ReplyDeleteI love these, very inspiring! I would add, Failure does not mean I will give up; It means I will rise up stronger.
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! :)

I need this right now. Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteNice words for writers, thanks Shannon. And what do you think of The Doctor's Lady? Have you finished yet? I loved it. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI was once told that failure take a lot of hard work. Since then, I very rarely feel I've failed. : )
ReplyDeleteI really like the one about learning something. That's sometimes hard to see, because it's all internal. Great post!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I want this in bold print next to my computer :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! Especially the "at least I tried" one. Thanks Shannon!

Thanks for the reminder! Truely, failure only exists when we lose our perspective.
ReplyDeleteI just finished THE DOCTOR'S WIFE!! SUCH an excellent read! :)
