Cats on Mats

"The cat sat on the mat is not a story. The cat sat on the other cat's mat is a story."
~ John LeCarre

 Okay now, be honest -
How many cats on other cats' mats do you have in your story?

  9. The Cat Sat on a Mat is an actual book for early readers. But that fat cat sits on the rat's mat so I guess it follows the rules. Great quote.

  15. Shannon, oh, what a perfect combination: cute kitty and cool quote. So much is said in so few words. Love it! :)

The cats who sit on mats of other cats are much more interesting than those who mind their own business.

  16. Hehe! Funny because my daughter is reading beginning readers and one is about sitting on a mat. And it has a cat!

  17. A cat on another cat's mat? Hmmm. Right now I have a protagonist whose two best friends despise one another. They're both trying to sit on her mat and push the other away!

  18. yeah, agree, a story has to have plot, or conflicts, otherwise, it is flat and uninteresting.

    short and powerful post.
    your words inspire.
