An Ice-Axe

A book must be an ice-axe to break the seas frozen inside our souls.
~Franz Kafka

This quote is too beautiful not to share. What is begging to be shared in your life today?

I ran 2 1/2 miles the other day. That's the most I ever ran in one shot. :)

After reading my college students' second papers of the term, I'm beginning to see their writing really grow. Intros are interesting, thesis is evident and supported, and conclusions are tight and satisfying.

Yum.

Oh man, that IS beautiful. Shared? Honesty about life.

And when that ice-axe parts the seas, it's a wonderful thing. Shared today? It's a cold, quiet February day, so conducive to writing.

Love this quote (I'm a quote junkie, you know!!).

I need to share more time and hugs with my children. Which I will do the moment they run through the door, home from school.

Jennifer - I'm not a runner - at all - so I'm tired just thinking about that.

Jennie - Yay! Don't you love it when hard work with students begins to pay off?! :)

Catherine - Honesty is always good!

Joanne - So beautifully said.

Terresa - You always have great quotes. My kids are gonna get some lovin too!

Stacey - Thanks, Stacey.

Magnificent quote!

Hmm, what to share...? I have to read through the first few chapters of my last MS (for a contest) and I'm afraid it won't meet my expectations, so I keep procrastinating.

I finished reading BEFORE I DIE by Jenny Downham today. I was sitting in our town's poshest salon, trying to hold back the tears. If you need a good cry and an unusual book, this is it. It's YA, but I'm not letting my almost 14 year old read it, yet.

As I was reading my daughter (she's almost two) her book before bed, I heard her mumbling words along with me. Flipping back to the beginning, I asked her to read the pages first. She "read" them! It was too cute though, she said the first couple words and then the rest were mumbles. That's my big share today!

Shannon, my memoir, which has yet to find a home. I think that perhaps God is having me wait for a reason. I can't wait to find out why, but feel certain someday it will all make perfect sense. In the meantime, onward with the next project, to try to keep chugging away with the ice pick. I know there's more in there to be revealed. :) By the way, I am totally stealing your idea to put your "books I'm reading now" at the top of your blog. Love that idea!

The last few weeks have been full of so many epiphanies and good-cries.

Books are at the cent of it all.

The fact that Christopher is doing great and even though we still don't things, he is alive and well. Thanks to God. He gets ALL the glory Shannon. And I am almost ready to query.

I could not get a hook for my synopsis to save my life, but it came to me yesterday. It IS SO COOL! WOO-HOO! I was almost ready to throw in the towel and then it came to me. God again. I'm so glad I listen to him. =)

I'm officially the mother of a six-year-old today. It's so fun, but a little sad to see her grow up.

I love the quote! What I really want to share today is the unbelievable cuteness of my two foster kittens (being cared for in support of my local SPCA). And, on a grander level, I guess I want to share my belief in our responsibility as humans to care for animals and the earth.

But, again, the kittens are ridiculously adorable. And currently attacking each other/squeaking. I'm so glad I get to work from home today!

Okay seriously I would just say:

I really am a happy girl today! lol Silly isn't it, but it was first to come to mind when I read the question! Oh I have missed surfing the blogs these last few days! I missed you Shannon!!! ;o)
