The one requirement of this award is to share your favorite writing book. Well, I can't name just one. Good books that actually help improve our craft are worth their weight in gold. In order to limit it, though, I'll just name three. He he he.
- Discovering the Writer Within - Bruce Ballenger and Barry Lane
- On Writing - Stephen King
- Hooked - Les Edgerton
- Roxane Salonen @ Peace Garden Mama and also at Peace Garden Writer
- Stephanie @ Hatshepsut
- Laurel @ Laurel's Leaves
- D.L. @ Cruising Altitude
- Candace @ Misadventures in Candyland

Congrats on your awesome award!!! Congrats to all the others as well!!!
There are so many Wise Writers!!! Am I allowed to cheat and say everyone I come across??? Hehe.
You're welcome for the well-deserved award, Shannon!!!
King's On Writing is terrific! I haven't read the other two. I'll have to check them out!
Congratulations! What a cool-looking award, and an honor for you.
A wise writer who's inspired me is Patti Lacy, author of An Irishwoman's Tale and What the Bayou Saw.
Happy Day,

Thanks for the great links! I'll have to sign up to follow some more great writers! :O)
Congrats on your award! I'm so glad you picked Laurel's Leaves - I bookmark her blog all the time.
Congrats on your award--you ARE a wise writer! And cool book recommendations--I hadn't heard of two of them:-)
Shannon, oh, you are such a sweetie. Thanks for the award! It's one of my favs! As for writing books, yes, there are many, but the most recent that I have come to adore is Heather Sellers' "Page by Page." Read it this summer at the pool and I'm still thinking about it. Oh, Natalie Goldberg's "Writing Down the Bones" is an all-time favorite. There are more but I'll keep it simple for today.
WOW...thank you so much Shannon! Your's is well-deserved. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to stop my wife's uncontrollable laughter if she saw I received this award. :) Congrats also to my fellow recipients!!
I've read Stephen Kings book, but don't recognize the other two (which will now be rectified). Thanks for the tip. :)
Ohlala! This is a nifty award- I agree with your book choices too. Thanks for making my day, Shannon!
Congrats to the winners and thanks for the links!
Congratulations on such a cool award!
You've got two of my three favorites there: Hooked and On Writing. I enjoyed Page After Page, but not as much as those two.
Shannon, thanks for the shout-out of Hooked. I'm in your debt again and really appreciate it!
Congrats on an award you richly deserve.
Blue skies,
Les
Congrats on this well-deverved award--you always have great thought-provoking posts and tidbits to encourage us. Thanks for passing it along to me--I feel incredibly honored. I can't wait to share my favorite reads. :-)
I find Elizabeth Berg (author of Durable Goods and many, many others) a very wise writer. Her book on writing is great: "Escaping into the Open: The Art of Writing True."
Congrats! What a great award for you!
Aww thanks SO much! I needed some sunshine today (yesterday the offspring was a pill)...
Thanks again:)
Congratulations Ladies!
Shannon, this is way too hard:) My favorites are James Scott Bell, Sol Stein, Anne Lamott, to name a few.
You deserve this. I wish I was blessed with a lyrical hand and whimsy thoughts.
Congratulations on the award! You are amazing, Shannon...You touch so many lives. :)
One wise writer I've met through blogland is Angela Ackerman...She does some awesome posts! I keep hoping she'll talk her agent into letting her do a nf book....
Hey! My daughter made this award for me to give out...this is so cool to see it spreading the joy all over the internet!
How cool is that? Congratulations to everyone! And Booyah to Becky!
Edge of Your Seat Romance
Oh CONGRATS, love! Well deserved, indeed. :)
Congrats to those you passed them along to...all wonderful.
And, I love all 3 of those books as well.

Congratulations on the award. My favorite writing book is The Fire in Fiction by Donald Maass. I also like Plot and Structure by James Scott Bell.
(Hope this doesn't post twice, when I tried it before, there was an ERROR message. Feel free to delete one if it does :)
Congrats, Shannon! I really like HOOKED, too. And Les is so cool that he comments on blogs that give a shout out about the book. He did that for me, too.
Congrats!!
You also got me hooked on 'Hooked'. I love it. I also favour Elizabeth Lyon's 'Manuscript Makeover' - it's a gem! :-)
Congrats on the awards! I think my wise writers keep changing!

Self Editing for Fiction Writers is awesome as is Donald Maass' Workbook and 38 Mistakes (Not the real title, but I don't have time to look it up right now - sorry) is also really good.
Congrats on the award and thanks for the links!
Hello Shannon! Congratulations on your award! I saw you whilst I was bloghopping :) My favourite so far is Stephen King's On Writing :)I've taken note of the other two books you liked and will check them out, too! Thank you for sharing. :)
Congrats on this wonderful award!! I love "On Writing" but I haven't read the others, though I've heard of them. I'll have to check them out sometime.
