The Master

My daughter had a wonderful time in first grade this week, reading, dressing up, and all sorts of silly, Seuss-like things. A fun time was had by children (and adults) all across America.

In honor of Dr. Seuss week, I end the week with one of my favorite Seuss quotes:

"I like nonsense - it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope... and that enables you to laugh at all of life's realities."
~ Dr. Seuss

Have a wonderful weekend!

I freaking LOVE Dr.Seuss quote! It makes me feel a little less crazy for always looking through the wrong end, so to speak.

I love, love, love Dr. Suess. He's probably my favorite author. I remember having stacks of his books and would freak out if my mom forgot to read one to me at night. I guess I bonded with the way he viewed the world...that or he helped shape it. Wonderful quote, and you, misses, have a fantastic weekend!

I love the stamp. I'm going to have to see if I can buy it at the end of the month when I visit the US (SF).

Dying to know what you think of Perfect Chemistry. I love that book. :D

We've had the same fun week celebrating Dr. Seuss at our school, too. My kindergartner finally hit her reading stride THIS WEEK and declared her love for GREEN EGGS and HAM, which she carries everywhere. :)

That's a terrific quote. I like thinking of life's ingredients. Have a great weekend!

I <3 Dr. Seuss. His words and nonsense have always made more sense than most of "real" life.

I love that quote, too! All Dr. Seuss' quotes are brilliant and timeless.

My favorites from two of his books, "Happy Birthday!" and "On Beyond Zebra!":

{Today You are You! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is Youer than You!}

{So you see! There's no end to the things you might know, depending how far beyond Zebra you go!}

That's one of my favorite quotes. It makes me want to write silly and free. Dr. Seuss managed to empower kids while making reading funner than fun.

What fantastical wonder he has brought to all our lives. Nice of you to give him a shout-out. I'm sure he's giggling from his new vantage point, probably while standing upside-down. :)

The school always makes it so fun for the kids. They even make green eggs and ham for them too. Doesn't look so good, but they do it. :)

He must be a genius. I can't count the number of times I read "Green Eggs and Ham" to my girls, and I never once got tired of it. Amazing!

Oh, the Thinks you can Think. He really was a master. So witty, so wise. "I can read with my eyes shut, at least on one side."
