STORYWORLD

Create-A-Story Kit

Amazon Description:
Age Level: 9 - Adult | Grade Level: 4 - Adult | Series: Storyworld

An ingenious toolkit for the imagination, designed to inspire storytellers of all ages.

Welcome to StoryWorld, a box containing forty cards that suggest a myriad of characters, places, and objects that you can use to create your own story. Pick a handful of cards and use their pictures and words as inspiration. You can tell a new story every time the box is opened. Discover more ideas about how to use the cards in THE STORYTELLING BOOK, packed with tips and ideas for creating your story, games to play with the cards, and a sample story written using the cards.

I first learned about these cards a  couple of years ago from Charmaine at Wagging Tales. I ordered them for my high school classroom, and they are truly awesome. The myriad of ways in which these cards can be applied creatively to our writing is virtually limitless.

If you are looking for writing warm-ups or story starters or idea generators or character traits or ANYTHING, really . . . these are for you. They can definitely help jump-start you out of any funk or writer's block. For all of us--whether pleasure writers, aspiring authors, or multi-published--I highly recommend giving these a try!

I JUST found these right before Christmas and gave them to my nephew as one of his gifts. I have to admit, I wanted to tear it open and use it for myself. Sweetly, he said he'd share. ;)

Hi Shannon! Long time not visit. For that, I am sorry!

This looks like a wonderful kit not just for middle graders but for anyone! I love writing prompts; I love the winding rabbit trails they take me down. Thanks for recommending!

Happy Wednesday,
Jen

Hi Shannon .. thanks for these suggestions - I've just ordered the kit - as the group of Nursing Homes has a Story Telling week .. and I thought our residents who come and share in my conversations could enter a story into the competition. This will be another stimulus over and above my own eclectic pointers ..

Then I might order the book too .. perhaps you can tell me - is that worth while too .. and their other kits - do you use those?

Cheers - great timing .. Hilary

Very clever! We just got some story cubes for my daughter--dice with pictures on them to inspire a story. They're going into her backpack on Friday for our trip to California!

Hi Shannon - thanks for the tip about these ... the old folk weren't that interested - but there's levels of old and of interest - and of people - they will come in handy - I was pleased to know about them ..

I'll try them sometime with a MUCH younger person! But they may come in handy in due time .. they had lots of ideas and packs ..

Cheers enjoy your weekend .. Hilary
