A Contest and Some Blog Love

Karen @ I'm Always Write is having a New Year's Resolution Contest! The Prize is a brand new, hardcover copy of Catching Fire and a $20 Visa gift card. Entering is easy, so go do it! (as soon as you enter my contest - hahaha)
_____________________________________________________________________

Also, I need to pass along a couple of awards that I received recently. First, a big thank you to my critique partner Bethany @ Aspirations for the Kreativ Blogger Award, which requires me to come up with 7 more things you don't know about me and then pass it to 7 other bloggers.

1. I found out this morning that my oldest son, Wyatt (12) was in a car accident while visiting his grandmother. He's okay, but I think I will be scarred for life.

2. My husband and I tied for Montana "Speech and Debate Coach of the Year" before we were married.

3. I am a complete and total ditz when it comes to remembering things.

4. My family went to visit Washington D.C. and Williamsburg, VA. last summer - loved it!

5. I believe cheesecake should be eaten EVERY DAY of a vacation.

6. My daughter wants a puppy.

7. My husband does all the cooking and grocery shopping - I'm super spoiled. :)

I pass Kreativ Blogger love to:

1. Karen
@ Scobberlotch (how do you NOT give a Kreativ award to a blog with a title like that?!)
2. Wendy @ W.M.Morrell's Musings from Down Under (check out her blog header and the awesome beach santa pic. over there right now.)
3. Anita @ Anita's Edge (I never know what to expect when I check out her posts, and I love how she refers to her boyfriend as "Sarcastically Delicious")
4. Matt @ Free the Princess (this is a more recent discovery for me, but I am totally addicted to his interesting posts)
5. Shannon M and 6. Frankie - how on earth do we not acknowledge the semi-psychotic and totally entertaining creativity passing between these two right now?!
7. Stephanie @ Hatshepsut (maintaining one of the most awesome blogs out there, while creating a modern-day Hatshepsut mania, requires some gifted creativity. I LOVE this blog!)

I also need to thank Carolina @ Carol's Prints for the Blogging Writer Award. Apparently it has no set rules, so I have all the power. I choose to pass this award to a few blogs that always leave me feeling intimidated - um, I mean impressed - by the power of the writing I find there.

I pass Blogging Writer Award love to:

* Terresa @ Chocolate Chip Waffle - Everything she writes sounds like poetry. I bet even her grocery lists sound beautiful!
* Roxane @ Peace Garden Mama - Her blog posts and her comments are always thoughtful. I feel as though every word has value and is heavy with sincerity.
* Laurel @ Laurel's Leaves - I always feel like Laurel pours her heart into every post.
* Sherrie @ Write About Now - A sure thing for the good blog/great writing combination.

Aw, thank you SO much. You are WAY to sweet, especially since what's really going on between us is more like insanity than creativity. But I'm glad you're enjoying. :)

PS:OMG I am so glad your son is okay. My heart stopped for a second when I read that and I'm not even a mom. I can't believe you're even coherent right now.

Shannon, concerned here about your son, too. Please keep us updated. With a 12-year-old of my own, I am totally with you in your worry! Your mother's heart cannot be quelled. And by the way, wow! Thanks for the award! I have to admit, I am a little slow with these things. I have been given a few awards before but wasn't really sure what to do with them. But I will wear this one proudly, and pass it along to others (a trait you do so well). Really tickled -- thanks. :)

Good lord! What a sweetheart! Thank you so much :)

Terribly sad to hear of your sons accident. My thoughts go out to you and your family. Hope he's on the mend in no time.

Thank you once again, Shannon, for the award. It was a delightful surprise :)

Shannon -- you are so sweet! Next time I grocery shop, I'll pirouette in the aisles as I think of your kind words! Thank you!!

Frankie - Thanks. I don't think it's possible to be anything but entertained by the antics of you two! BTW, email checked and reply sent. :)

Shannon - Thank you for your concern about Wyatt. I had some rough moments this morning as I visualized all that "could have been", but he is just perfect. Thanks be to God! :)

Roxane - Sometimes I think we mothers suffer double the pain, injury, heartache, of our children. Nothing hurts us more than seeing them hurt. Fortunately, my Wyatt is completely unharmed, and so is his grandma. I believe there were angels with them. She fell asleep on the highway (75 MPH) and they did a complete 360 turn before going off the road. However, they landed in the only soft, grassy ditch in the 120 miles between towns. God is good. :-)

Quillfeather - You deserve it! :)

Valerie - If only her father did!!

Terresa - That is something I would love to see. Better yet, post your grocery list so I can say, "See, I told you it would be beautiful!"

Thank you, Shannon. The award is appreciated and it got me out of having to think up a blog post for today. Scoresies!

Thanks for this award! You inspired me to write a poem. A very bad poem, but a poem nonetheless.

Your #2 -- my total fave!

There's a story there...

Sherrie Petersen said...

Wow, Shannon, I'm awed. Thank you! And I think #1 on the first list would totally scar me too. I'm easily wounded when it comes to my children.

Carolina M. Valdez Schneider said...

Congrats on your awards! Most deserving ;) So sorry to hear of your son. I think I'd be a blabbering, foaming-at-the-mouth mess if that happened to my twelve-year-old. So glad he's okay.

I'm so glad to hear your son is okay- how scary!

And thank you for another wonderful award! I'm definitely feeling the love!

I'll be advertising your contest on my blog today- I haven't had a chance to get online since Sunday being on vacation.

Oh such wonderful blogs! Seriously do Frankie & Shannon not terrify you? I mean mention one thing and the next thing you know it will be a blogwar! lol I love them! They are so fun!
So glad for your contest & your follower numbers!
Shannon - I love stopping by your blog, you always make me smile!

Courtney Barr - The Southern Princess said...

OH & I almost forgot my most important thought!
I was terrified when I first began to read about your son... then you ended on a good-mom note. I am not a mom so I don't know about that end, but I have been the child in the car = not fun. Sometimes more scared of the parents reaction than the pain. But it sounds like Wyatt is young enough to be a passenger rather than the young boy at the wrong place-wrong time.

oh and my mom always used to tell me that miracles are found in the smallest places, the shortest seconds, the biggest spaces and the longest hours but you don't always notice them until the perfect moment. Realizing we were all safe and sound was always a perfect moment in her eyes.

Shannon O'Donnell said...

Suzette - Thank you!

Jenni - There is a story there, actually! ;)

Sherrie - You shouldn't be awed - your blog is fabulous!

Carolina - Thanks for understanding exactly how I felt. :)

Stephanie - You so totally rock!!

Heather - Thank you!

Princess - You always make me smile, too.
"miracles are found in the smallest places, the shortest seconds, the biggest spaces and the longest hours but you don't always notice them until the perfect moment"
That is beyond beautiful - your mama is a wise, wise woman. Thank you for sharing that with me, Courtney. I wrote it down and I'm going to blow it up and hang it in my classroom. :-)
