Marvelous Middle Grade Monday - Nerds: M is for Mama's Boy

Marvelous Middle Grade Monday

Nerds: M is for Mama's Boy
by Michael Buckley

Goodreads Blurb:
In this second outing for the 5th grade super spies, Duncan Dewey, codename "Gluestick", is the point of view character. This time the group must fight a very unlikely villain - he still lives with his Mum. In other words, it's the NERDS against a nerd.

Michael Buckley nailed middle grade humor in this book - big time! The super powers of the kids in book one were awesome.  Add some buck-toothed squirrels worshiping our buck-toothed hero-turned-villain and it's even more hilarious.  I found myself in awe of Michael's ability to somehow channel the imaginative energy of this age group.

After watching my son sit for hours, laughing hysterically and insisting on reading parts to his little sister, I knew I had to read this one.  All I can say is...no wonder it's such a hit! Upper elementary  kids (esp. boys) through jr. high aged are the perfect audience for this one.  I highly recommend it!

Happy Monday!

This sounds so cute, and the fact that you were able to hear a lot of laughter from your children would make me love the book even more!

Oooh - one for the list! My fifth grader will read pretty much anything (had to steal back Bridget Jones' Diary because there are some things a 10 year old boy should just not know yet) but he loves a fast, funny read! Thanks!

I'm in ginormous awe of and have heaps of respect for middle grade authors -- especially those who write for boys!

You have to be silly but focused, unpredictable but linear. Quick-paced, fun, with plot tricks.

Honest -- you middle grade authors, YOU ROCK!!!

What a coincidence, I just wrote a post entitle Word to the Nerds. :) I guess it's a nerdy Monday! This book looks great for my little brother.

Fun cover! This sounds like a book my son would have liked if it had been around when he was in 5th grade.

Put your outdoor unit in the shade.

Have the HVAC serviced twice per year. This should be checked often for debris and again in the spring. satta king

There is perceptibly a lot to realize about this. I believe you made various nice points in features also.
