I Gave In

Yep! I finally caved and joined Twitter.

Yep! I'm still pretty lost. Craziness.

BUT . .  with the help of friends like Angela Ackerman, I'll keep collecting tips and "how-to's" until I figure it out. Any suggestions or tips or even warnings of what NOT to do are welcome and appreciated.

My twitter name is: shankodonnell

Now, as clarification, here's where that came from:

Shan(non) K(ristine) O'Donnell is my name. Too many others share this name apparently, so I had to play with combinations. Please think of it as Shan K. O'Donnell and not as shank.  Although, shank has provided much entertainment already. He he he.  :-)

See you around the Twittersphere!

P.S. I've tried multiple times to get the share buttons to work at the bottom of my posts, but they will not show up. Any suggestions?

You brave lady! I am saving my adventures in Twitter as a future reward for hitting a milestone of some sort--either finishing another manuscript or finding an agent. For now, it's hard enough juggling the day job, family, writing, blog and facebook.

And "shank" sounds like a very meaty screen name (sorry, couldn't resist!).

"shank" is the way to go!!!

hope you're great, shannon. busy time of year, no?

Twitter friend! Welcome!

I'd say welcome to Twitter, but I don't spend a lot of time on there. Not necessarily because I don't want to, but because I don't know what the heck I'm doing or even what in the world to say. Have fun. Perhaps I can learn from you!

Welcome to Twitter.
I just added the share buttons on my blog last week.
I'm not a technical person but did you save changes after clicking to show share buttons?

Yay! I find Twitter super useful for good article links and info from the writing world in general. I love it! See you there!

Yay! I'm so glad you're on Twitter now! Once you get the hang of it you'll love it. It beats just about any social network I've come across. Short and to the point, what writer wouldn't love that?! Great to have you!

I'm still resisting, but I'm sure in the next year or two I will cave... right around the time everyone is over it ;) Good luck!

I love Twitter.

(Must admit, the 'shank' gave me a giggle when I first saw it!)

Shank! hehe

Ok, I need to do a post on that darn "share" button, because I have lots of blogger friends that I wish had one. Now, I just have to remember how I did it...

I just wish I had content worth sharing. I feel like everything I think that's less than 140 characters long isn't worth tweeting. ;)

But yes, I've joined the madness. I think I just need to figure out how everything works better.

Oh, and I tried to put the tweet thing on my posts, too, but it didn't work for me, either! And yes, I pressed save!

Shank? LOLOL!

Seriously, though, welcome to the Twittersphere!

My top tip is to use hashtags. Like at the end of a tweet about writing, put #writing. It's a great way for other people to find you.

Following you now!! :)

I just can't understand the buzz over Twitter and other social networking--but people seem to have a lot of fun with it!

Angela had suggestions (and a link) to help me with the share buttons, but it still didn't work.

LOL I didn't see the shank part until you pointed it out. But it could have been worse. It could have been skank. ;)

I am still holding out! Not twitter for me...yet.

It's a time thing, really.

Have fun dangling your toes in the pool!

If you haven't downloaded TweetDeck yet (it's free), it a great way to make it all make sense. You can keep columns open (all friends, mentions, any topics you like - like #kidlitchat, #yalitchat, #askagent) then you always see updates. I couldn't do it without it!

I am not, yet, on Twitter. Enjoy your new handle, Shank!

Congrats on caving. I have an account, but don't use it much.

Me too, me too! I just joined Twitter earlier this week. Or was it late last week? It was only just recently. Can you believe it? I was scared over something that isn't very scary. Isn't funny how life goes?

twitter has a learning curve but once you sort through the word vomit, you'll love it. I'm a follower, can't wait to read your tweets.

I promise you'll get the hang of it! Before you know it you'll be a pro. Hope you figure out the Share button - I have Wordpress so not sure about Blogger!
