"If you have never said "Excuse me" to a parking meter or bashed your shins on a fireplug, you are probably wasting too much valuable reading time." ~

Where is your favorite place to read?

My favorite place to read is curled up on my cushy recliner with a big fluffy blanket :)
bathtub. hands down.
That said i also enjoy reading in bed and reading on the couch or in a comfy chair. Also the toilet.
I mean, let's get serious here, is there a BAD place to read?
With my Kindle App on my iPhone, anywhere is my favorite place to read ;)
I love that picture! My daughter pulled her first chapter book off the shelf at Barnes & Noble last night. She only lasted four pages (she's only 3), but I'm pretty excited for Charlotte's Web and The Boxcar Children!
I like to read in my sun room. I painted it a deep crimson so even at night it's super cozy. Especially with a glass of wine.
I used to read on my way to campus. I knew the path between my apartment and the university so well. I rarely if ever had to look up.
My favorite places to read are the bathroom and sitting between the dusty stacks of the library on the floor.
It changes every two years with each move. Haha! The quote cracked me up. I had to read it twice!
Diana - Fluffy blankets and a lap pillow are the best!
Falen - Ahh, who doesn't love the tub? I love to go in there and lock out the children for an hour (or more).
Scott - Oh, I see you are one of those spoiled people. :)
Stephanie - I get such a thrill each time one of my children learns to read and then falls in love with their first series or author. :)
Jen - I love reading outside in my chair swing.
Candice - The library is a great place. I love to go there with my kids and stay for hours.
Nisa - The best thing about reading is that no matter where you are, you can find a great spot! :)
My favorite is the bathtub. I have no idea why, but it is. : )
What a fantastic quote!! I don't know if I have a favorite spot per se... But I do love to read on rainy days! (Um, rhyme was unintentional, ha)
Oooh, great question! Definitely lying in bed at night--the kids are asleep and no one can make me put down those pages!
Your picture made me think of my son. I took him to my grandmother's house last summer for the first time. It is a place I loved to go as a child, a place about which I have many wonderful memories. Her front room is a formal living room. It's straight out of the seventies--peach, floral sofa and chairs, green carpet, hospital off-white walls, curiou cabinet stocked with little bird statues and mounted coral. But the point is, I used to escape their to read. One year over Christmas I read Gone With the Wind in two days in that room. When I took my children, my 4yo son (without any encouragement) dragged his backpack of favorite books into that room and plopped down on that sofa. It made me cry.
Thanks for making me think!

Fun. Well, I don't know that I'd say it's my favorite of all time, but it is the place I read most often these days: at the Y, on either the bike or treadmill. I look forward to workouts because it also means reading time, without interruption. True, my workouts are not as vigorous as they could be, but I don't mind. I love working up a little sweat and coming away inspired mentally and emotionally as well as physically. :)
On the couch with my favorite blanket :)
Curled in bed, propped behind stacks of pillows, wearing my favorite knee high striped socks. Lest I forget, smothered in covers!
I love reading in my bed with my big fluffy blankets. Comfy!
Kim - You are not alone!
Sara - Ooo, I love reading on rainy days, with a nice cup of something hot and a soft blanket.
Michele - What a great story! Thanks so much for sharing that with me. :-)
Roxane - I see a lot of people reading while on the treadmill or the bikes. I've always wanted to try that, but I'm not real coordinated - I'd probably end up humiliating myself! :)
Christine - That seems to be a popular favorite.
Tamika - Favorite striped socks? Are they super furry and soft? ;)
Natalie - I think that's today's most popular answer!
I have a 'reading corner' in my house. It is a fun Queen Anne chair in bright bright red with a small footstool that I monogrammed. I have a light right above it and a small table to the side. It is perfect!
However as a child...I loved more than anything to climb into our wheelbarrow with a book in the summer. the cool metal against my skin and the sun providing the perfect viewing - if not there then in the field in front of our house. TONS of soft red clover to lay on and read...oh the memories... ;o)
Ooh! I like this question! My favorite place to read right now is really my only place to read...and that's one of two places I nurse my child-the nursery glider or the couch. But if I could choose a favorite place, it would be my bed in my pajamas all day, every day. There are no children in this fantasy. They are either grown-up or at grandma's.
The bathtub--definitely.
When I was a kid, I used to bike down to the school, and then pull out my book, and bike in slow circles around the basketball court while reading. It's a miracle I'm still alive. (I also used to read while walking...I actually don't think there was any place I wouldn't bring a book.
I'd love to do it outside or any my comfy chair in the family room ... but, that never happens ... reading only happens at night before bed, so ... my current favorite place is in bed!
My old blue fluff-coming-out-of-it comfy recliner.
a comfy chair with a lamp. :)
Awesome photo!
My fave place is on my swing outside on a warm, sunny day - with no bugs floating around :)
Courtney - I actually saw a cute picture of a little girl reading in a wheelbarrow. I guess I should have used that one! :)
Jessie - I have that same fantasy!
Heather - Reading while biking in circles? I love it!
Kelly - Those are my favorites and in that same order.
Catherine - That sounds like my kinda chair! :)
Bethany - Yep! That works. :)
Jemi - That is one of my very favorite ways to read.
Cozying up under my comforter with my husband flipping through SPORTS ILLUSTRATED and showing me the funniest, craziest stuff is my favorite place to be.
What a fantastic quote! I love it.
I think my absolute favorite place to read has to be curled up in a blanket, near a fireplace. It's just so (cliche) er, homey. Add chocolate and hot tea. Repeat as much as humanly possible.
I can read absolutely anywhere. But I love to read in the bathtub, in bed, and in front of the fireplace.
In the winter I like to curl up on the sofa in front of a fire with a comforter or read in the bathtub. In the summer I like to read outside, preferably near water but not too near. :)
In bed, most definitely, with lots of warm blankets :)
Right now, bed is my favorite place to read. It's too cold to read on the veranda. :( When it's 60 degrees or more, I love sitting outside, often wrapped in a blanket.
Shannon--You amaze me. Every blog I visit you seem to have been there already and left a thoughtful quote. WTG!
Depends on the time of year. Summer- outside, winter on the couch so I can watch the snow fall. Spring and fall on the porch!
I used to love to read in the bathtub - now we're remodeling and living in our basement apt. I hate the little bathtub in our basement apt. So, I don't read there. I used to love to read in bed before I went to sleep, but the 2yo currently sleeps with us. So, I don't read there anymore. Now I read on the couch. It's just not the same. Maybe that's why I don't enjoy reading as much as I used to.
In the bathtub! I love to just sit and read for hours (adding new hot water ever 30 minutes or so). I don't get to do it very often, but I love it when I do!
Love this quote! My fave place to read is in bed!!
