Real or Imagined?

cartoon from www.weblogcartoons.com

Today, the mountainous journey toward publication may seem impossible. The path feels too rocky, the climb too steep, the end goal unreachable. But is it?

How do we know that this time our CP's won't finally give us the green light or that we won't have that aha! moment we've been waiting for tomorrow or that the next call won't be "the one"?

We DON'T know what's waiting for us at the top of the next rise.

So keep climbing!

This was cute Shannon! Thank you so much for sharing!!! I feel like climbing today, I don't feel the defeat that I've felt for weeks, I'm glad the clouds are breaking up and I'm able to fly on through!

Yes, Yes! We keep climbing, because we'll NEVER get there if we don't keep trying.

And we hold hands with each other the whole way. And we cry because it's hard and it hurts. And we sing.

That is so lovely *hugs* thanks :)

Just think when you reach the top how you'll feel and then all the hours you spent getting there will be forgotten.

Hi Shannon -

Love the cartoon! I must visit that site.

Even if those distant mountains are there, taking one step at a time is all we can do. For me, that translates into setting intermediate goals. The small successes give me encouragement to persevere.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Very true- my husband has a great line I keep in the back of my mind.

We don't know how your story ends.

So I just have to keep climbing!

Thanks, Shannon! I felt my 300 word picture book manuscript was a mountain today...I just can't get the meter right and keep the story perfect...UGH...I put on my mountain boots and climbing belt and try again tomorrow.

Keep climbing - I need to internalize this. I'm not even looking towards publication right now - I just want to finish my book.

So true #2. It always seems that right when I get to the point where it feels like I can't. climb. anymore! I get boost I need to keep climbing.

Looking back helps too. Seeing how far you've come, and knowing you'd be wasting all that effort if you don't keep going. :)

Have a great weekend!

So true! I love the image that you picked. The climb is hard, but conditions us for when we do get to the top, and need to now get to the next peak. I don't think it ever stops. We just may have to rest in a cave from time to time.
